How Straight To Video Sold the World
What would happen if you put Neil Diamond, Jackson Brown, Rikki Rocket, and Kerry King in the same band? Several fist fights, three STDs, two cases of alcohol poisoning, and one record later you would have Straight To Video. This is the story of four disenfranchised youth that got old and fat before their dreams were realized. Unable to admit defeat or see their shoes, STV joined hands and set forth to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony (if only they could have taught themselves that lesson first). Kent Siegrist (Kenner), Marc Severin (the bean man), Brian Gier (B), and Jay Krueger (the alchemist) took the reigns and piloted themselves into rock folklore’s history books. Certain to be referred to as one of the most influential rock bands of their time STV rehearsed in the mean streets of north Minneapolis. Avoiding gun shots and crack whores while honing their song writing skills into sharp pointy knives of melody, they emerged from the post apocalyptic music scene covered in nuclear fallout but destined for greatness.
It is one of the tragic stories of our time that this band couldn’t survive longer than the ten songs they graced us with during their short, short time on this swill infested planet. With songs that weave their way between fairy tales, stories of betrayal and political satire intermixed with the bitter sweet taste of revolution; STV will remain one of the most poignant musical endeavors to ever have rattled a set of Jensens. If you should ever be lucky enough to acquire one of their rare, rare, recordings please be warned that you may very well become a disciple of STV.
The pedigree of these four gents is unmatched; as you will see by their listing of previous bands below:
